I am a sucker for music videos that look the way the song sounds. I am also a sucker for everything my favorite Ohio band, Times New Viking, feels like releasing. So you can imagine what the combo is doing for me on the new clip for “Born Again Revisited,” the title track from the trio’s recent album. Directed by Pelham Johnston and Brandon Reichard, the video manages to achieve total synesthesia: The pair complements the rough, noisy, lo-fi track with grainy, brown-and-white footage of the band performing. The image is full of scratches and pale streaks of color. But, as in TNV’s song, the clip’s very grittiness is ultimately what makes it so gorgeous.
