Buckshot To Judge Hip Hop Karaoke Championship
When I’m out, having a good time with friends, maybe dabbling in a little karaoke, I always wish there was a New York hip-hop vet to give me a few pointers on my performance. Know what I mean? Well for those in the Rotten Apple, you might be able to live out my fantasy, as Buckshot, the Boot Camp Click MC, has signed on to be one of the judges for the upcoming Hip Hop Karaoke Championship to be held in NYC next month.
According to AllHipHop, the grand finale event will take place on January 29th at Irving Plaza with the best biters, oops, I mean, karaoke participants going head to head over three rounds to try and snag a cool thousands buck in cash money (in my Wilmer Valderamma voice). While I knew absolutely nothing about the existence of this event, apparently I’m mad late, as Prince Paul, Video Music Box’s Ralph McDaniels and Dres of Black Sheep have all been judges in the past for the event before Buckshot. Cats like Pete Rock, Jeru The Damaja, Rhymefest and Big Daddy Kane have also been spotted in the crowd at past competitions, so maybe it’s a little more major than I thought. At any rate, the homie Bucksot is glad to be a part of it, giving the obligatory press quote as follows:
“I’m excited to be given the privilege to judge the 2010 Hip Hop Karaoke Championship. There is nothing harder in the business than getting up on that stage and performing to the masses. It takes awareness, confidence, clarity and, most importantly, breath control. These challengers are also faced with the obstacle of making the crowd believers. I’m anxious to see what songs each contestant will select to perform and if he/she will own that selection.”
Cool. I’m not sure about the requirements on this one, but if you’re looking to bust out your best rendition of “Funky Cold Medina” or “Ice,Ice Baby”, peep the website for all of the details on entry and the like, www.hhkchampionship.com Prepare to shell out about $15 if you just wanna watch. Also, take a look at this visual to get you familiar with the festivities.
