Review: The Bloody Beetroots – ‘Christmas Vendetta’ (Dim Mak)

The Bloody Beetroots - Christmas VendettaItalian electro duo Bloody Beetroots (Bobby Rifo and Tommy Tea) came to prominence in 2009 with Romborama, their debut full-length, which combined the musicality of French house duo Justice with the theatricality of Daft Punk (the pair perform virtually every show with Venom masks on). On that album, one can find hints of techno, Italo disco, hip-hop, and classical, all produced with a punk sneer. For fans wanting more from the duo, the group has released Christmas Vendetta…Spares of Romborama, a three-track EP featuring new and remixed tracks. “Warp 1977″ features the talents of Dim Mak label head and hipster DJ extraordinaire Steve Aoki. The “Talkin’ In My Sleep” remix ratchets up the screaming and intensity of the original, but still maintains enough of a groove for constant head-nodding. And finally, the group’s remix of All Leather’s “Mystery Meat” showcases the band at its fist-pumping best, made to be played Wembley Stadium-loud.
