Influential Canadian heavy-metal band Anvil stood on the precipice of international stardom in the ‘80s. The group toured all over the world, recorded a slew of hard-as-hell albums, and performed at festivals in front of thousands of fans. After their peers signed lucrative recording contracts and went on to attain fame and fortune, Anvil slumped into the abyss. Directed by longtime fan Sacha Gervasi (who as a teenager had befriended drummer Robb Reiner and singer/guitarist Steve “Lips” Kudlow at a gig in London, and reconnected with them decades later on a whim), Anvil! The Story of Anvil catches up with the band, now in their fifties and trying to make one last attempt at the brass ring. Will they get one more chance to rock?
