The Arcade Fire License “Wake Up” to the NFL for Super Bowl Haiti Relief

arcadeThe effort for Haiti relief has certainly prompted some unique collaborations (Weezy and Barbara Streisand, anyone?), but the Arcade Fire have gone to a new level of crossover by licensing their hit “Wake Up” to the NFL for use during the Super Bowl’s television airing and future NFL broadcasts. Every time the song is played, proceeds will go directly to Partners in Health’s Stand With Haiti relief program. Now that I think about it, “Wake Up” is a pretty nice soundtrack to the slow-mo victory jog, isn’t it? Given the amount of people who will tune into the Super Bowl this weekend, the chunk of cash to be raised is absolutely huge; a truly honorable and genius move on the Arcade Fire’s part.

The band’s website has recently been stripped of band-related news on the homepage and is dedicated entirely to Haiti relief. It currently bears the following appeal for donations to Partners in Health’s Stand With Haiti:

Friends,

Haiti needs your help in her darkest hour.

We just got off the phone with our friends at Partners in Health (Zanmi Lasanté).

Most of the medical infrastructure in Port-au-Prince is down.
Since Partners in Health’s clinics are in situated the surrounding areas and haven’t been damaged, they are mobilizing their resources towards
the capital, setting-up field hospitals to treat the injured on the ground.
Also, Paul Farmer (the founder of PIH) is at the UN and has access to the best information on where to direct the money… so for the moment
if you want to help, we suggest sending funds to:
