WHO DAT!!?? K. Gates Creates New Orleans Saints Fight Song
With the French Quarter still going wild, and more than a handful of football fans calling off, ehem, sick to work on Monday, it’s evident that the New Orleans Saints Super Bowl victory is still being celebrated. But what celebration party is complete without music? No worries. While you might look for a bigger name like Lil Wayne, Master P or even Juvenile to rep on wax for their city’s team, New Orleans native K. Gates has put down the perfect fight song for his hometown heroes, creating a virtual soundtrack for the Saints.
Released last month, K.Gates’ “Black & Gold (Who Dat!)” has struck a chord with those in the city and has become the Saints theme song, with fans singing the songs lyrics and praises throughout the Saints’ road to the Big Bowl. Sampling the Ying Yang Twins’ track “Halftime (Stand Up & Get Crunk!),” which is played over the loud speaker after every Saints touchdown, Gates created his version of the track, which has become an instant hit.
The N.O. rapper also has a freshly released visual to accompany the track. Peep the clip for the song along with all of the black and gold madness below. With the Saints’ parade scheduled for Tuesday, don’t be surprised if you see Gates pop up to pump up the crowd. Beignets for everybody!
