iLike and Facebook Stream New Thievery Corporation Album 4 Days Early

Most Facebook users are familiar with the iLike application, which allows users to share their favorite artists and which shows they plan to attend. This is the first time, however, that Facebook and iLike have actually worked together to promote an artist.

Beginning September 19th, Radio Retaliation will stream on iLike and Facebook, four days before the album's official release on ESL. iLike will also get first dibs on exclusive video messages recorded by the band in which they discuss the new album. It's good to be an Internet startup, eh?

CEO of iLike Ali Partovi notes that this is not a concerted effort by Facebook to compete with MySpace Music, which will launch later this month. Still, I'll bet ten bucks of my hard-earned cash that Facebook won't tell me to "swat the fly and win an iPod" every five seconds, like some other sites I know ...
