10 Songs Cat Power Hasn't Covered (But Should)
Posted on
Cat Power (aka Chan Marshall), as famous for being crazy/beautiful as she is for her chops as a singer-songwriter, will release a six-song EP of b-side covers from last year's Jukebox sessions on December 9. The EP will include covers of songs from The Pogues, CCR, and Aretha Franklin, among others. However, this news got me wondering: with all her (kinda sorta) famous renditions of other people's songs, what hasn't Cat Power covered? Here, after the jump, is my list of ten songs I'd like to hear Marshall give the ol' breathy acoustic treatment to:
- "Run To The Hills" - Iron Maiden
- "Helpless" - Neil Young
- "Push It" - Salt-n-Pepa
- "When The Lights Go Out" - The Black Keys
- "Waterloo" - ABBA
- "Rodeo" - Garth Brooks
- "State Trooper" - Bruce Springsteen
- "All Night" - Hail Social
- "Possum Kingdon" - Toadies
- "It's So Easy" - Guns N' Roses
Lucky for you, fair readers, you can find Cat Power's first two (pre-crazy) albums right here in the LimeWire Store.
