Foo Fighters, Every Other Band in the World, Slam McCain for Using Their Song

Posted on October 09, 2008

foofighters.jpg copySucks to be you, John McCain. You're way down in the polls. You looked sickly and mean in Tuesday's debate. And I believe that your running mate, Sarah Palin, speaks lolcats as a first language.

If that weren't enough, it's getting pretty embarrassing that so many musicians have vocally denounced your campaign's use of their songs. We heard from John Mellencamp, Van Halen, Heart... and now you've pissed off the Foo Fighters, too. The band recently caught on that McCain's been playing their track, "My Hero," at campaign events and released a statement claiming that the candidate used the song without their permission. They also believe that McCain is "perverting the original sentiment" behind "My Hero."

More on that, from Dave Grohl and co.:

"This isn't the first time the McCain campaign has used a song without making any attempt to get approval or permission from the artist. It's frustrating and infuriating that someone who claims to speak for the American people would repeatedly show such little respect for creativity and intellectual property."

When reached for comment, McCain cupped his ear, leaned forward shakily, and rasped, "What are these Fruit Fighters you're talkin' about, sonny? I hate the fruits, too! I'll fight any one of 'em!"
