Ghostly + DFA = Halloween Hipster Heaven

Posted on October 31, 2007

gi.jpgAnn Arbor, MI-based Ghostly International team up tonight with local label DFA for what promises to be a pretty awesome Halloween party at Studio B. Juan Maclean (DJ set), Morgan Geist, T&T (Tim Sweeney and Tim Goldsworthy), Derek Plaslaiko and Mathew Dear's Big Hands are the big names on the bill that’ll also feature Invisible Conga People (Italians Do It Better), Ghostly’s Jeffrey Sfire and Kevin Avery in the back room for “cold wave, dark Italo, creepy electro, and experimental synth vibes.”

Fresh from touring in support of his recently released Asa Breed, current Brooklyn transplant Matthew Dear says he’s learned quite a bit while touring with his band, so expect his outfit to bring the noise. “Touring with the band is completely different than performing techno,” says Matthew Dear. “Schedules are tighter, sound checks longer, and more road weary miles have been tabbed. It's been a learning experience for me and my fans and a stimulating experience at that. Halloween will be a raucous night for all in attendance. [Tonight] expect a cover or two that we've never done before.”

Tickets are $15 at the door and there’s a cash prize for best costume. Get there early for the open vodka bar from 10-11pm.
