Hearing Test: Hear Like a Teenager
Here’s a fun Monday afternoon test for this otherwise dreary February day. Noise Addicts, an audio and music-related e-magazine, has just proposed a test to determine just how your hearing stands up over the years.
The test is simple. Click here to listen to an audio clip. If you can hear it, I reckon you’ll find it annoying as sin (as I certainly did). If you can’t hear it, don’t fret, as the clip is a registered high frequency tone that most adults cannot hear due to even the slightest amount of hearing loss.
This tone has grown to some prominence as a popular cell phone ringer for high school students, as most teachers are unable to hear the tone. In other areas, the tone has been used by adults as a kid-thwarting device, placed wherever teen loitering is at an all-time high. Pretty clever, either way you cut it.
So go ahead. Turn on those speakers and give the test a whirl, and let me know it turns out.

I’m really surprised I could hear that after living through an entire My Bloody Valentine concert sans earplugs…

Wow. It’s low and sounds like what I hear on a daily basis in my ears everyday. But, I can faintly hear it! Even with my tinnitus! I guess my ears ain’t so bad as I thought they were eh?

>_< eww, it feels like a thin wire was going straight through the back of my head through my ears as I could hear the sound.
