Yesss! Tour season is ramping up good and proper, and I’m pleased to announce a slew of dates from Dinosaur Jr, whose new album comes out this summer on Jagjaguwar. While that may seem like a long time off, you can content yourself with a behind-the-scenes look at the band’s studio in Amherst, MA, courtesy of Pitchfork.tv. Lou, J and Murph weigh in on the positive side of becoming “old and weird”, and mixer/engineer John Agnello (Sonic Youth, The Hold Steady) gives us a detailed rundown of the mixing process for a Dinosaur Jr album. Plus, if you buy tickets to any of the show on this upcoming tour, you’ll score a free 7″ or two MP3s of songs recorded during the feature: the brand new “I Don’t Wanna Go There” and live staple “Tarpit.”

These dates tend to favor the southern part of the country, but dang if there aren’t a ton of them! Time for a road trip.
