Watch out, Andrew Bird. There’s a new girl in town who’s got a lot of sampler pedals and is not afraid to use them with a violin, dulcimer, drum set, and her own set of pipes. Theresa Andersson gives us her own sweet brand of Swedish indie pop in this song from Hummingbird, Go!, out now on Basin Street Records. Recorded at home in her kitchen, Andersson spices up what would be just another cute little song by performing and recording all of its elements on the spot. “Barefoot in the Kitchen” finally has some kind of positive connotation.
