Roman Kuebler of the Oranges Band Wants YOU in His Club
His song-of-the-month club, that is. Roman Kuebler, Ex-Spoon bassist and current frontman of Baltimore-based The Oranges Band, recently launched Every7th.com. For $1 a month, you are treated to a Romania song (or three) and tons of related online content. So uh, what’s Romania? According to Kuebler, “Romania describes the songs of Roman Kuebler
and the cast of misfits drafted into service to help realize and
improve, musically and otherwise, these valiant attempts.” New artwork and videos are also promised, with the intrigue of a “guest artist” each month.
Kuebler has always been markedly fierce in his committment to DIY ethics, crediting Baltimore as the perfect environment for his brand of work, starting in the 1980s. “Developing that trajectory in the nearly industry-free city of
Baltimore, not only promoted a sense of integrity and lack of pretense,
but also necessitated self motivation and relentless action.” Every7th.com seems like a pretty awesome way for Kuebler to share his DIY process with people who really care about him and his music, and while the numbers probably won’t be as overwhelming as say, subscribers to Lily Allen’s MySpace blog, hardcore Oranges Band/Romania fans will consider this a gift from God. Or Roman. Same diff.
The month of June is free if you want to check it out here.
