Deer Tick + Delta Spirit + Dawes = Supergroup MG&V
If supergroups with three initials make you itchy, putting you in mind of ELP or CSN, get a new perspective on the phenomenon with MG&V. It stands for McCauley, Goldsmith, and Vasquez, and it’s what happens when the singer/songwriters for three of today’s hottest rootsy/Americana-based indie bands with names beginning with “d” start intermingling during their down time. The group began when Deer Tick’s John McAuley started jamming with Dawes frontman Taylor Goldsmith, and the results proved to be so exciting they decided to expand the experiment even further, by bringing in Delta Spirit singer Matt Vasquez. With Dawes drummer Griffin Goldsmith stepping in to add that crucial fourth wheel to the project, MG&V was born.
